It's going to hurt.
You will fight the hardest battle of your life as you wrestle with the ghost: the fear of abandonment. Fear of being unlovable, unwanted, and unworthy. And through this process, you will become a person who knows yourself. Who accepts and loves yourself, regardless of who else does or doesn't choose to stay in your life.
It will take time and tears, and determination to fight your way out of the depths of despair, but you will get there.
And on the other side,
You will be stronger and braver and better for it. Because you will now be someone who knows that sometimes it takes heartbreak to bring out the feeling of peace and wholeness. That other version of you is waiting on the other side of all of this.
But you're still going to meet them. And it's going to change your life. It probably won't change theirs. You were merely a sentence in their stories while they were several chapters in yours. And that's okay. Because some people come into our lives not to be loved, but to be lost and learned from in order to help us change and grow. That was always their purpose.
So many people bump into our lives for a second, and it changes us forever but they never know it. While it is funny and strange and a little sad, it’s also just life. And the truth of the matter is, it was never really about them anyway.
It was always about us and what we were meant to learn from them. It was always about us and how we meant to become as a result of having encountered them.
